Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 24, 2026

Thinknotes is a voice-first note app built to help you think more clearly. We take your privacy seriously because notes are some of the most personal data you can create. This policy describes what we collect, why, how it's stored, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Voice recordings

When you record a note, we capture the audio on your device and send it to our servers for transcription. Audio recordings are processed to generate text transcripts and structured notes.

Transcripts and derived content

Once your recording is transcribed, we generate structured content (titles, summaries, tasks, reminders, categories, embeddings for semantic search). This content is stored in your account so you can access it across sessions.

Account information

We store the email address you sign in with, basic profile data (display name, timezone), and timestamps tracking when notes were created and last updated.

Usage signals (opt-in only)

If you enable the Patterns feature, we generate weekly reports summarizing your note-taking activity. Pattern detection is processed on our servers and never shared with third parties beyond what's strictly required for AI processing (see below). You can disable Patterns at any time in the app's Profile screen.

How we process your data

Thinknotes uses third-party AI services to transcribe your audio and generate structured notes:

Your audio and text are sent to these providers only as needed to perform their function, and we have agreements in place that prohibit them from using your data to train their models.

Where your data is stored

Your notes, recordings, transcripts, and account data are stored on encrypted servers operated by Thinknotes. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for any purpose other than making the app work for you.

Your choices and rights

Children's privacy

Thinknotes is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
